What are you doing to make a difference in the profession, your community, the world?
I am currently serving as a mentor with National Society of Black CPAs, whose mission is to increase the number of Black CPAs. This is important to me as Black/African Americans only makeup 2% or less of all CPAs. I am also on the accounting advisory board for the Port St. Lucie, Keiser University. My responsibilities include working with the staff to ensure the graduates are ready to enter the workforce.
What do you like best about the accounting profession?
What I like most about the accounting profession is the consistency and balance. Debits and Credits really spoke to me as a sophomore in high school and lead me to be an accountant over 25 years ago. I am one of those accountants that really enjoys the puzzle of determining the correct journal entry and to ensure that the transactions are recorded correctly.
